Cultivation strawberry greenhouse promotes temperature management

Strawberry cultivation under controlled conditions is a special early-maturing technique. In Shanghai, strawberry seedlings are typically planted in mid-September, and the first harvest can begin as early as late November and continue until June of the following year. Since most of the growth cycle occurs during winter, temperature control becomes the key factor for achieving high yields.

During the initial stage of plant establishment, temperatures are relatively warm, but as the weather cools down, it's important to cover the plants with plastic film once the temperature drops below the optimal range for strawberry development. The best time to do this is when the daily average temperature reaches around 16°C. In Shanghai, this usually happens around late October to early November. Planting too early or too late may negatively affect the overall yield.

By late November, temperatures drop significantly, and nighttime temperatures inside the greenhouse start to impact the flowering and fruiting process. At this point, an additional layer of inner covering should be added to the greenhouse (such as a second plastic sheet). Using double-layered coverage helps raise the internal temperature compared to the outside air. When the outdoor temperature is about 5–6°C, the greenhouse can maintain a temperature above 0°C. In years when temperatures in Shanghai fall as low as -7°C to -10°C, extra insulation measures must be taken, such as temporarily covering the surface with non-woven fabrics or using triple-layered covers. This can increase the internal temperature by up to 12–13°C compared to the outside. Even when the outside temperature drops to -7°C, the minimum temperature inside the greenhouse can still stay around 5°C, allowing strawberries to grow and produce fruit normally.

The ideal temperature for greenhouse-grown strawberries varies throughout the growth stages. During the day, it should be around 30°C, while at night it should stay between 12°C. For other periods, daytime temperatures should not exceed 25–28°C, and nighttime temperatures should be maintained at 10°C. During the fruit expansion phase, daytime temperatures should be kept below 23–25°C, and nighttime temperatures should remain between 6–8°C. During the fruit harvesting period, the temperature should be between 20–23°C during the day and 5–7°C at night, with a minimum of no less than 5°C to avoid damage to the fruit.

As spring approaches, the temperature inside the greenhouse rises quickly. At this time, it's crucial to gradually increase ventilation to prevent the temperature from becoming too high. If the greenhouse becomes excessively hot, the strawberries may become smaller and more acidic, which affects both their size and flavor. Proper temperature management ensures consistent quality and optimal yield throughout the growing season.

Enzyme Powder

Plant enzymes are indispensable for plant metabolism and are critical determinants of the extensive chemodiversity observed in plants. These enzymes serve as primary catalysts in biosynthetic pathways, enabling the biosynthesis of a diverse range of secondary metabolites, such as alkaloids, terpenes, and phenolics.

It is now divided into seven categories: oxidoreductases, transferases, hydrolases, lyases, isomerases, ligases and translocases. The International Commission on Enzymology divides enzymes into seven categories based on the nature of the enzymatic reaction, the nature of the transfer reaction, and the types of group donors and group acceptors, namely: oxidoreductases, transferases, hydrolases, lyases, isomerases, ligases and translocases.
