Hainan aims at deep-sea potential net cage fish farming

The deep-sea potential fish farming project developed jointly by Hainan Ruifa Oriental Marine Industry Co., Ltd. and Norway's REFA Co., Ltd. has achieved initial results since it was implemented in Xinying Town, Linao County, Hainan Province last year. The project provides equipment and technology from the Norwegian side. The water depth of the sea area is 12 meters. The frame of the cage is fixed by sea bottom anchors and fixed by steel braces. The depth of the network is 8 meters and it can resist typhoon 12.
The project began to put fingerlings in August last year and has now cultivated whitefish. With 92,000 tails of cobia, the survival rate of the two species is as high as 98%. Among them, cobia was introduced from Taiwan. The average weight of fish fry is 28 grams, and the largest cobia is now 2,000 grams. The average weight of white cod has reached 300 grams. Cobia generally grows to around 5 kg in order to achieve the best efficiency, and the white cod has to grow to 500 grams or so. It is estimated that the output of the first batch of more than 10,000 military cobia can reach more than 50,000 kilograms at the end of the year. At present, there are three companies in Zhanjiang and other places that book fish products for them. The results of the experiment for more than half a year have shown that the potential for fast-growing fishes, low disease, and high survival rate are the characteristics of the potential net culture. The sea water around Hainan is clear and almost free of pollution, and the potential for large-scale development of potential net culture is bright. Lingao County has already ordered 10 potential net cages from Norway to prepare for the promotion of this technology. In addition, a seawater fry hatchery provided by the Norwegian side is also under preparation.
